Belarus has acted as a mediator in negotiations to broker peace in Ukraine. Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko has rubbed shoulders with EU leaders and Russian President Vladimir apparent change of heart toward Lukashenko has been criticized by Belarussian dissidents who have moved to neighbouring Poland because of repression back home.
