50 years of Franco-German friendship

Fifty years ago, France and Germany sought reconciliation and resolved never to return to their dark past. Back in 1963 when the treaty was signed in Paris by Konrad Adenauer and Charles de Gaulle, Germany and France were only just emerging from the devastation of the Second World War. Our Paris correspondent John Laurenson tells us what the French and Germans really make of each other these days.
