Ellen Ueberschär co-ordinates and plans the program of the festival, which is held in a different city each time. On Talking Germany, she discusses reformers, religion and revolution.

The theologian was born in Berlin and grew up in the former East Germany. She represents the Kirchentag, but during the five day event, largely remains in the background. Ellen Überschär comes from a Christian family and became involved in the church at a young age. She attended her first Kirchentag as a volunteer in West Berlin in 1989 - before the fall of the Wall. After graduating from her theology studies, she wrote a PhD on the subject of Protestant youth work in the former East Germany. Ellen Ueberschär is married, has one daughter and lives with her family in Fulda where the central Kirchentag office has been based since 1950. The next Kirchentag will be held in Stuttgart in early June 2015.
