It's not long until the World Cup kicks off in Brazil and football fever once again sweeps the globe. For a month, Jogi Löw's men will be representing Germany – but every day more and more German players and coaches represent their country abroad in their professional lives.
The German Football Ambassador initiative has nominated nine men and two women who are active at clubs outside of Germany. You can decide which one becomes German Football Ambassador 2014 by voting for the People's Award. You have until April 20th to make your choice. Last year's winner was Sami Khedira of Real Madrid.
The initiative is backed by DW along with the Goethe Institute and the Foreign Ministry. In January a Kick off! special show presented the three coaches nominated for the main award: Monika Staab in Qatar, Klaus Stärk in Namibia und Winnie Schäfer in Jamaica.
These are the candidates for the People's Award:
Nadine Angerer is the reigning FIFA Women's player of the year. In April, the goalkeeper will leave Brisbane, Australia for Portland in the US.
Or maybe you prefer one of Arsenal's trio of German stars in the Premier League. Playmaker Mesut Özil certainly gave the Gunners a boost when he signed on.
Per Mertesacker has revitalized his career and has become a mainstay of Arsenal's defense.
And Lukas Podolski always makes an impact with his sense of humor and his goals.
But maybe you favor Kevin Kuranyi. He's been playing for Dynamo Moscow for the past four years.
And then there's Miroslav Klose. The 35-year-old is still a top performer, both for Germany and Lazio.
Who deserves to be Germany's 2014 Football Ambassador? You can decide by voting online.

The main and the People's Award will be presented to the winning coach and player in a special gala ceremony at the Foreign Ministry on May 5th 2014.
